Getting your resume at the top of the pile is the first step. Mastering the interview in-person or via videoconferencing is the second. Explore the basics of resume writing, how to create a job-specific resume, and what content to include. Learn effective job searching techniques and how to utilize job search engines like Indeed, Monster, and Linkedin. Do a mock interview to confidently and professionally present yourself as a valuable asset to an employer. We provide no cost follow up sessions by appointment.
Earn your Personal Support Specialist (PSS) credential within the first three weeks.* Then earn your CNA credential once you complete the 150-hour program, pass the State exam and are acceptanced to the State CNA Registry. Classes and labs will meet in person at the Sullivan Learning Center and clinicals will be at local healthcare facilities and/or hospital. Prerequisites: completed application, documented medical immunization history, meet with student advisor, and complete assessments.

If you’re thinking about substitute teaching, we want to talk with you! Substitute teaching is a rewarding job with lots of flexibility; this workshop will provide you an overview of what you need to know. Meet with an experienced substitute and building administrators to learn about topics such as: “tricks of the trade”, classroom management, learning & teaching styles, state laws related to student rights and confidentiality, and how to apply for the position. You have options about what schools you substitute in and what grade levels. Come take a step towards substitute teaching! Follow up seesions as requested.

For individuals who have made application to the Registry and are now listed as "pending reinstatement" on the State of Maine CNA Registry website.
In order for students to reserve a two-hour time slot, payment must be made ahead of time. Soon after payment is made Jean Girmscheid will be contacting you with available time slots to choose from.
The cost covers both the written test (100 questions, multiple choice) and the skills assessment (5 skills done with an RN clinical instructor).
Prepare for college statistics with our unique online course! Get a head start on learning the terms, symbols, stats software, and graphing calculator. This online course is for students who have placed into college statistics or those who are retaking the class. Class will meet weekly on Zoom. Delayed viewing is available on an individual basis. Students will need a laptop, tablet or desktop (not a phone) with a camera and microphone, as well as high speed internet. Ideally, students will either have a TI-83 or 84 calculator to use or purchase the online software package. Outside homework will be given to supplement online instruction. Students should expect 2-3 hours of homework a week outside of class. Students will be asked to provide recent assessment scores, which can be taken with us.

Participants will need a computer with a camera, microphone, high speed internet, and a willingness to participate in an online video conference class.
