Career Advising and Planning – create the change you wish to see

Trying to figure out what job is right for you? These individualized workshops are built around four steps to discovering what jobs will match your strengths and career goals. You will experience a mix of hands-on, discussion, and on-line learning through the semester. Whether you're finding a first career or changing careers, this class will help you with your career planning.

(1) Career Explorations – we'll begin by looking at your strengths and interests, learn about transition planning, explore local businesses and agencies, and complete a career exploration survey (WOWI or My Next Move).

(2) Local Employers / Occupational Profiling – We will schedule a meeting with a local employer, organize an informational(s) interviews, draft smart goals and timelines, and research one or more occupational profiles.

(3) Next Steps – Based on your career interests, this is the time to research continuing your education or training, draft targeted resumes and cover letters, engage in mock interviews, visit work and/or educational sites and plan for a successful transition.

(4) Putting your plan into action – using the plan you have just created, start moving towards the change you wish to see. We will support you with our community connections and mentors to the greatest extent possible. Workshops will move at your pace; you can enroll at any time by appointment.
