Earn your CNA credential once you complete the 130-hour program, pass the State exam and are acceptanced to the State CNA Registry. Classes and labs will meet in person at the Sullivan Learning Center and clinicals will be at local healthcare facilities and/or hospital.

Class and labs run until 11/1. Clinicals will run 11/7-11/28, 6:30-3 pm. No class on 11/22. 11/28 will be half clinical and half review.  State Exam on 11/29.

Prerequisites: completed application, documented medical immunization history, meet with student advisor, and complete assessments.

The course tuition is covered by a generous donation and funds from Eastern Maine Community College/Maine Jobs Recovery Plan.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

CMA certification is an ideal step if you are considering a nursing degree or an entry-level clinical position. Take the next step in your healthcare career!

Clinical Medical Assitants (CMA) are an essential role in healthcare and are in high demand locally!

CMAs work with providers mainly in outpatient facilities; they are a critical part of a patient’s care team.

Our CCMA program provides instruction, lab practice, and hands-on training. Externships are completed at the end of the course.

CMA training includes:

  •   Administrative and clinical duties
  •   Preparing patients for examinations and treatment
  •   Updating medical records - EMR
  •   Taking and documenting vital signs
  •   Routine lab procedures
  •   Diagnostic testing, including EKG
  •   Basic phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle
  •   Workplace expectations and professionalism
  •   Training includes an externship prior to employment

Additional CCMA courses include: Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Medical Math.

**Payment is not required at the time of registration here. Scholarships and financial assistance available. Thanks to a DOL grant, we are able to offer this course at a reduced cost and have additional financial aid available.

By registering, you're letting us know you are interested in receiving more information about the CNA-M training offered by RSU 24 Adult Education.  A student advisor will contact you to give you more details, answer any questions you may have and discuss financial assistance that's available.  Or you may call us directly at 207-422-4794 FMI. The cost of the course does not include the clinical component for those outside of our area.   

Class will be scheduled once we have enough students who have submitted the required paperwork and completed the assessments.

This programs trains CNAs to administer selected non-injectable medications to patients who are 4 years of age and older. The course consists 120 hours of training, labs and clinicals; class training will be via Zoom and labs and clinicals will be scheduled in-person.

In order to qualify to take this class the Certified Nursing Assistant must:

  • be active and in good standing on the Maine State CNA Registry with no disqualifying annotations 
  • have completed 1200 hours as a CNA in the last 2 years  
  • achieve a 10th grade level on a reading assessment
