Over thirty people came to the first Inmate Art Show at the Friend Memorial Library in Brooklin. Since 2018, the art and writing program “Art, Write, Now” has provided the opportunity for inmates at the Hancock County Jail to express themselves through drawing, painting, and creative writing.
The class is hosted by writer/English teacher Phil Wormuth and art teacher/volunteer Jean Hylan in association with the RSU 24 Adult Education Program and the Hancock County Jail. Both instructors have been working with inmates on a weekly basis over the course of the past two years to help them express themselves visually and thru the written word. The results have been insightful, delightful, and thought-provoking.
Stayed tuned for the next showing date.
