Belly Dance Workshop

Get a fun workout, burn some calories and move to the music. This belly dance workshop will focus on developing confidence in your own abilities to improv moves on your own, to your own music. This is a low impact cardio workout. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring belly dance gear if you have it. Otherwise, gear will be provided.

There is a $7 fee for this class, payable by cash or check.

Beginner Kettlebell Workout

Learn the fundamentals of kettlebell training where we will focus on building strength, mobility, and coordination through basic exercises such as swings, squats, and presses. Your instructor will guide you on proper form, safety, and technique, ensuring an effective full-body workout. Whether you're new to fitness or kettlebells, this class will help you build a strong foundation while improving endurance and overall fitness. Participants should wear comfortable clothing (nothing baggy) and bring a kettlebell (recommended 10 lb) and a water bottle.

America’s Boating Course

Next session: April 17th to May 29th, 2025

Learn the fundamentals of safe boating and earn the Maine state recognized certification that requires completion of a boating education course before operating most water craft for anyone born after 1999. Class covers safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, knots and lines, and more! The information is useful for both ocean and freshwater boating. The course includes an examination for certification.

A materials/administration fee for the course is $10. Manuals are $35 if you want to buy one, payable at first class by cash or check ("Penobscot Bay Sail and Power Squadron").

No class 4/24.

Felted Books

Using felt making techniques you will create a unique, textured design for the front cover of a book. Fancy embellished paper will be used for the pages inside, and you will learn how to bind the paper to the front cover. Please bring a story or poem or any favorite photos to class for inclusion in your finished book. These books make great photo journals. Students should bring a $10 materials fee payable to the instructor.

Here's everything to get YOU ready for your next phase of personal growth. Step aerobics using 4 or 6 inch steps or "step mats" (keeps you at ground level)...low impact to set your own intensity. Strength training with weights: meet your own needs for bone density and isolated muscle work to maintain a stronger you. Students should have their own weights, steps or step mats. 

It is recommended that you have 1-2 lb weights; wear comfortable clothes that let you move; and gym shoes to give your feet support. Always check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program.
