Natural Dyeing: Reds

If this class is FULL, please go ahead and register to be put on the waiting list as we may have a cancellation or Susanne may offer another class if there is enough interest.

Winter is a time to be warm. No blues or greens. Reds! Maybe some yellow.

We will be dyeing reds in this class. Madder, cochineal, lac, and Brazil wood. I will provide all materials. If you want to bring your own natural fiber, it must be mordanted with alum.

Students should wear old clothes (or an apron) and bring:

  1. Notebook, pen or pencil
  2. Indelible sharpie
  3. Fiber, natural, up to one pound
  4. Rubber gloves - dishwashing type
  5. Plastic 3-5 gal pail
  6. Medium size cooking pot, around a gallon, if you want your own personal dye bath.
  7. Small laundry bags to hold loose fiber if you are bringing some
  8. Plastic bags for wet fiber
  9. Lunch and something to drink. Lunch will be question time.

Adult Education has a refrigerator and microwave for us to use.

Whether you're new to fitness or kettlebells, this class will help you build a strong foundation while improving endurance and overall fitness. Participants should wear comfortable clothing (nothing baggy) and bring a kettlebell (recommended 10 lb) and a water bottle.
